The start of the year is always such a creative and inspiring time! After relaxing and recharging during the holidays, it’s time to face the new year with a fresh perspective.
While going about my days this month, a couple of interesting things have caught my eye. These are little bits of inspiration and happiness through products, videos, and more. I’d like to share them with you!
Unless you live under a rock, you couldn’t have missed the incredibly powerful and important message Oprah delivered at the awards show. She discussed the main issue of sexual abuse towards women that is shaking Hollywood to its core right now, but also acknowledged that it is a problem that is bigger than Hollywood. It happens almost everywhere. As women have the courage to speak up about these transgressions of power, it is with the hope that other women are inspired to finally be heard. It’s such an inspiring and empowering feeling to know that we are encouraged not to give up the fight for our fellow women. Hopefully, someday, nobody will ever have to experience this kind of harassment and say #MeToo ever again.
Basically, musicians are invited to the NPR office and perform. My favorites so far are the ones with Anderson Paak & The Free Nationals, Tyler The Creator, DRAM, and Chance The Rapper. It’s an incredibly chill online series that focuses on good music. Somehow, even if these have racked up millions of views, listening to the videos feels incredibly intimate. It will give you the good kind of chills. There are many more in the series, including Paramore, so give it a listen!
It’s actually Chard’s, and he wore this at the baby shower we had for Baby Kai. But, well, it’s our jacket now. 😉 It has a great fit and is the perfect finish to an outfit.
Mustela really has high-quality products for moms and babies. Their stretch marks prevention oil is a huge favorite of mine recently. Not kidding—I use it every day; I’m on my second bottle as we speak! It helps improve your skin’s elasticity. It’s hypoallergenic and contains natural ingredients as well. I even use it as a massage oil because it smells so nice.
I am sure every girl obsessed with skincare is also obsessed with masking! More than just a trend, masks really do have specific ingredients to help tackle problem areas and improve the appearance of your skin. It’s a great form of self-care after a long day, too. This one by Tata Harper Skin Care helps maintain healthy skin. It’s safe for pregnant women to use since 100% of the ingredients are natural. My OB has approved it! A couple of uses of this mask will help you see minimized pores, less redness, and less oil on your skin.
Don’t underestimate the power of facial sprays! They can do so much to help you set your makeup and refresh tired skin. This one by Claudalie is made with grape extract and other ingredients that will help reduce pores, soothe your skin, and give it a glow. Even guys can use it as an aftershave! I spray this on my face whenever I feel like my skin is tired, or after moisturizing before leaving the house. This is also a staple in my travel bag because it instantly refreshes your skin after long flights.
So many beauty gurus have sung praises for this foundation, and with good reason! One of the ways to achieve a great makeup look is by using products that will help you get that perfect face without too much effort. This foundation feels like you’re wearing nothing, yet it helps give your face a flawless finish. La Mer is well-known for high-quality skincare products, and this foundation is amazing, too.
But let’s face it, who isn’t in love with this product? Rihanna has done it yet again. I love that when you apply this, the lip paint looks matte on the lips but it’s not drying. Unlike the Kylie Cosmetics lip kits, this one goes on pretty smooth and is quite creamy on the lips which I love.
That’s it so far for my January favorites! I’m always on the lookout for inspiring stories and movies, or even products that can make my life easier while being pregnant. If you have any recommendations on stuff I should try out, let me know in the comments! I would really love to hear from you guys.
